Schengen Visa Documentation

A Schengen visa allows visitors to enter and travel within the Schengen Area, a zone of 26 European countries that have abolished border controls at their mutual borders. The Schengen Area includes France, Germany, Italy, Spain, etc.

You must obtain a Schengen visa if you are a non-European Union (EU) citizen and want to travel to the Schengen Area for tourism, business, or other purposes. The embassy or consulate of the country you want to visit first or where you will spend most of your time will give you the visa. Once you have obtained a Schengen visa, you can travel freely within the Schengen Area for the duration of your visa.

Who Needs A Schengen Visa?

Non-European Union (EU) citizens who wish to travel to the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within 180 days generally need to obtain a Schengen visa. Some exceptions exist to this rule, such as citizens of certain countries who are exempt from the visa requirement for short stays.

It’s important to note that a Schengen visa does not give you the right to work in the Schengen Area. If you plan to work in any of the Schengen countries, you will need to obtain a work permit or other type of residency permit in addition to a Schengen visa.

Additionally, suppose you are a citizen of an EU country or a citizen of a country with a visa-free agreement with the Schengen Area. You do not need a Schengen visa to enter and stay in the Schengen Area. However, you may still be required to show a valid passport or other travel document and provide proof of the purpose and duration of your stay.
